Search for a new digital camera
I am on the search again for an upgraded digital camera. My choices are narrowed down to Olympus e-500 two lense kit, Nikon 50 two lense kit or Nikon 70 two lense kit. I am trying to decide whther to buy now (leaning toward the Olympus e-500) or wait until after the Photo Show to see what is announce there. Guess I will try to call Jim at Cameras Etc and see what he advises. Cost will be $900 to $1,000 when I add some asscessories, so I want to make the correct choice for the long term.
The New World is BAD
Conor and I went the movies last night (While Ann and Katie went to a different one which they liked). We did not like Ron Howard's The New World. It was way too long and boring ... poorly directed in my uneducated point of view. I have never seen indians kill so many colonists, yet the number of colonists keep increasing in the next view. The Williamsburg Historical Web site told the story of John Smith and Princess Pocahontas (Lady Rebecca) much better and it can be read in 15 minutes. The photograpy was the best thing about the film ... there was some good music too, but often it was too loud. But the theater was packed and the movie did make me come home and Google John Smith to read about the true history of the times.
Ann will be 66 tomorrow.
Today is Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006, and tomorrow will be Ann's 66th birthday. Katie, Conor, Laura and I took Ann to brunch at the Columbus Inn in Wilmington to get a head start on celebrating her B-day. It was a nice brunch with lots of breakfast and lunch goodies from which to fill our expanding bellies at $25 each. Ann looked beautiful in the sweater that Katie gave her Christmas of 04 that had previously gone unworn (Ann was saving it for a special occasion) . I gave Ann a well written birthday card and will now get her some flowers while I do the weekly shopping. Hope this week goes as well as last week did for Ann, who went driving for the first time since before her last operation. Jeff Herzka was kind to offer to take her out for a test drive. Ann passed his test and I let her drive us to Stanley's for dinner Thursday night. She did fine, but appeared a bit nervous in the parking lot. The puppies are happy to have Lex here to play ball with them. It is amazing how well the three sisters get along with each other and Wilson and Charcoal (who is getting older and older, but still jumps around like a puppy when it is time for treats).
